Journey to the Heart of Africa
Journey to the Heart of Africa
JOHANNESBURG, OKAVANGO DELTA, MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE, CHOBE NATIONAL PARK,
CAPE TOWN
Close your eyes and imagine the sights and sounds of the African grasslands.
Elephants lumbering along the banks of a shallow river. A breeze rustling the
leaves of nearby fig trees. The low grunts of hippos at a watering hole. A
fiery orange orb sinking slowly behind a stand of baobab trees, signaling the
end of another magical day. This is the fascinating world that will unfold
before you when you travel with Orient-Express on the 10-night "Journey to the
Heart of Africa" itinerary.

DAY 1-2
JOHANNESBURG
Begin your journey at The Westcliff, Johannesburg's most iconic hotel. Offering
spectacular views of the lush forested suburbs of Johannesburg and the
Zoological Gardens, it is the perfect place to relax after a long flight.
DAY 2-4
EAGLE ISLAND LODGE, OKAVANGO DELTA
Your time in the beautiful and unique wilderness of the Okavango Delta
includes a spectacular game-viewing helicopter flight. The open sides of the
aircraft will allow you to capture the most fantastic photographs.
Eagle Island Lodge is situated on the island of Xaxaba. Shaded by a canopy of
indigenous trees, it overlooks a lagoon fed by the tranquil waterways of the
Delta. The area offers many opportunities to observe birds and mammals in their
natural habitat.
From April to October the camp also offers game viewing by mokoro (traditional
dugout canoe) or by motorised boat. When water levels are low (December through
March), morning, afternoon and evening game drives are available. And for the
intrepid, safari walks are offered all year round.
DAY 4-6
KHWAI RIVER LODGE,
MOREMI WILDLIFE RESERVE
Nestled on the edge of a leadwood and fig tree forest, overlooking the vast
Khwai River floodplains and beyond into the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, lies Khwai
River Lodge.
Activities offered at the camp include morning and afternoon game drives in
open Land Cruisers, as well as after-dark game drives with night vision
binoculars. A cultural visit to the local village can be arranged, as well as
guided safari walks along the Khwai River.
If you wish to enjoy further pampering, the lodge has a gym and spa facility.
Or enjoy an indulgent massage and body wrap in the privacy of your own tent.
DAY 6-8
SAVUTE ELEPHANT LODGE,
CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Perched on the banks of the Savute Channel, with an elevated view of the river,
