Hideaways' Review
This enticing island estate combines luxury living in an exquisite setting.
St. James, BARBADOS. Located on the second ridge of the exclusive Sandy Lane Estate, High Cane enjoys inland country vistas over the golf course as well as glimpses of the Caribbean Sea to the West. This elegant home was designed by renown local architect, Larry Warren in a Colonial style. Architectural features include gracious proportions, encircling verandahs and balconies, wood jalousie shutters and marble and coral stone accents.
The main house consists of five bedrooms. Two master suites are located on the first floor with the three other bedrooms on the ground floor. All have balconies or terraces, ensuite marble bathrooms, air-conditioning and ceiling fans.
Living can either be formal in the spacious central sitting area or relaxed on one of many verandahs. The main verandah overlooks the large pool and deck and a wet bar perfectly compliments this casual area.
A charming small courtyard leads into the dining pavilion which opens onto a terrace and the mature gardens beyond. A perfect setting for dinner and a serenade by the "whistling frogs".
A large kitchen, laundry and staff area complete the main house.
Additional accommodation includes a fully equipped one bedroom guest cottage.
Adjoining the famed Sandy Lane Hotel is the Sandy Property Owners Association Beach Facility. High Cane owns a cabana at the facility on this superb beach.
