|
We'll take a suite with a wraparound balcony, please—oh, and maybe a second bottle of rum, since we may be here awhile. . .

Hideaways' Review
Settle in for some easy-in-the-islands living—this all-suite resort wants to be your home-away-from-home. Point Pleasant is indeed a pleasant surprise on busy, flashy St. Thomas, tucked away on a serene 15-acre hillside site with nature trails winding among the frangipani trees and tropical foliage. While it offers two award-winning restaurants (one beachy casual, the other renowned for its seafood) and nightly entertainment, the real emphasis here is on low-key relaxation. Each cool, tile-floored unit in its secluded villa-style buildings provides not just sleeping accommodations but also a fully outfitted kitchen ideal for anything from stocking ice-cold drinks to whipping up a meal with your finds from the markets in Charlotte Amalie. Even the comfortable junior suites have sitting and dining areas, but especially inviting are the superior and deluxe suites, with more spacious separate living rooms decorated with easygoing wicker furniture and equipped with cable TV, ceiling fans, and air-conditioning. Well-done without being lavish, it's a lot like home—if home just happens to have a private balcony with spectacular views of sparkling ocean and green islands, a complimentary bottle of rum in the cupboard, daily maid service, three swimming pools on the grounds, two beaches within walking distance, and all the attractions of St. Thomas mere miles away. |
